Sonoma County artist, Claudia Sanchez, began painting in 1990, after having worked in a business environment for most of her life.  Prior to that time, She had not acknowledged her interest in the world of Art; nor did she realize that she had artistic talent!

Her plan became to use her creativity in the field of interior design; and thus, she had begun to formally study interior "design".  However, she realized that painting was her "true" passion - even more so than designing interiors!

She spent approximately a year teaching herself to paint, by mostly painting "abstracts".  Before long, it was obvious to her that most people sought out art with a specific subject and or emotional appeal.  Having always loved cats, it was a natural choice for her..and the rest is history!

Artist Statement: I believe that I have optimized the use of my design education along with my artistic talent to create a unique painting style.  Color motivates me tremendously; and in my everyday life, I am always noticing the "color schemes" around me.  Color is usually the most noticeable feature of my artwork; however, various other design elements such as shape, pattern, and texture are also often incorporated into the design.  These basic design elements are what comprise my particular painting style.

Add to this a positive attitude, perseverance, and all of the enthusiasm I feel for my subjects, (most of whom are real cats), and it adds up to one 'winning' combination entitled "Claudia's Cats"!
